Wizz Air just announced on their website they are increasing the size of cabin baggage included with the ticket to standard size 55x40x23cm!!

Until now the airline included only small cabin baggage up to 42x32x25cm in the price of your flight ticket and you had to pay €10-€20 for the “big” cabin bag.

To be honest the small cabin bag size was really small and enough only for very few passengers so almost everyone had to purchase at least the bigger cabin baggage or classic check-in luggage and therefore creating great extra revenue stream for Wizz Air.

From 29th October 2017 all tickets will include big cabin bag with up to 55cm in size and 10 kg weight limit.

Vast majority of competition already offers this size in the price of the ticket, so it was just matter of time before Wizz Air has to change this rule too after many complaints from passengers.

The biggest competitor Ryanair offers even 2 bags up to 55x40x20 cm + 35x20x20 cm with every ticket.

Customers travelling on or after 29 October 2017 that have already purchased hand luggage directly through Wizz Air channels will be reimbursed with 120% of the price paid, credited to their WIZZ accounts as compensation.

Today the airline also announced a new service option for passengers called WIZZ Priority. Valid on all flights from today, WIZZ Priority now includes:

• Priority boarding
• Passengers able to bring an additional small bag (maximum dimensions of 40x30x18cm) into the cabin
• From 29 October, a guarantee that hand luggage will be placed in the cabin (also available for passengers when purchasing WIZZ Go, WIZZ Plus and the WIZZ Privilege Pass)

This is amazing news for all travelers in Europe and we hope Wizz Air will not compensate this change in increased prices and keep their fares low.

Until now you could become a member of Wizz Discount Club for €32.99 and travel with at least €10 discount per one way flight. You could also take up to 9 friends with you who would travel also for the discounted price if you booked the tickets together.

This is history now: Wizzair introduced important changes in Wizz Discount Club.

The Club is now divided into two possible memberships:

• Standard membership
• Group membership

Each type offers slightly different discounts and conditions.

Standard membership will cost you €29.99 per year (small discount to previous price of Wizz Discount Club in 2013) and gives you €10 discount on all flights over €19.99 for you and 1 other person traveling with you. The new feature of the Standard membership is also €5 discount on each large cabin bag and check-in luggage purchased online with your reservation.

Group membership on the other hand costs €49.99 per year and allows you to get the same €10 discount per one way flight for you and up to 5 other people traveling with you. That’s basically the only difference. You also get €5 discount for each large cabin bag and check-in bag as well.

These changes to Wizz Discount Club basically means you will get less value for more money. Wizzair also recently changed the prices for extra baggages and made them more expensive so even though you get €5 discount per piece of luggage now, it doesn’t really makes it cheaper.

While you could easily take 1-9 other people with you in previous Wizz Discount club for €32.99, you will have to pay €49.99 per year now and you will be able to take maximum 5 other people. This is hardly interesting offer for usual Wizzair customer who takes 1 to 3 return flights per year. Yes, if you are a hardcore traveler who takes couple of flights each month then you could benefit from this new offer but most people will have to actually pay more from now on.

Let’s hope this is the last change in Wizzair’s price policy after the baggage price and this increase – although they prices look great at the first sight, if you add all the extra neccessities you will pay much more than you planned in the end. Anyway Wizzair still remains one of the best low-cost airlines with interesting routes and prices.

Until now it used to cost the same amount of money to add the baggage – it didn’t matter if you do it during your booking or if you add it later.

From now on, Wizz Air will charge you more if you add the luggage later.

This applies for both big cabin luggage and classic check-in luggage.

The prices vary depending on each country.

For example in Poland it used to cost 42 PLN (€10) to purchase big cabin luggage up to 55 cm or add it later to your reservation. From now on, you will pay 50 PLN (€12) if you want to add it later.

The same change took place for classic check-in luggage: the former price was 63 PLN (€15), now you will have to pay 75 PLN (€18) if you want to purchase your luggage later.

Just to make it complete, we will mention the fees for adding the luggage at the airport during your check-in: this is obviously the most expensive option and you will have to pay 145 PLN (€35) for big cabin luggage and insane 252 PLN (€60) for adding classic check-in luggage.

All these prices are for one way flight, so you must make it double for most trips as they are usually return flights.

After checking these fees it’s really good advise to carefuly plan amount of luggage you need for your trip as adding it later can unexpectedly increase the price you will pay for your flight.
