Ryanair plans: transatlantic flights, free WiFi & new colours!
Ryanair is about to celebrate its 30th birthday next summer and Irish website independent.ie made an interview with Ryanair CMO Kenny Jacobs in this opportunity.
Kenny Jacobs reveleased some interesting facts about Ryanair in the interview:
First, the company still considers transatlantic flights from Europe to USA as we informed you couple of months ago. The situation is not so good currently though, as they would need a whole new set of airplanes capable of flying such a long distance. There’s currently no order from Ryanair for such planes and they don’t even plan on doing so. Instead, the company hopes to get the planes through cancelled order of some other airline and in such case the transatlantic flights could start operated approximately in 3 years from now.
The plan is to connect four airports in USA with four airports in Europe. The whole operation should be also launched under separate brand to distinguish from Ryanair’s European service. Mr. Jacobs also said that such service would include Standard and Premium class instead of regular Economy, Business and First classes. The only major difference would be more comfortable seats and more leg room.
Second major announcement is plan to launch WiFi in all Ryanair planes. This is really good news especially because the company plans to make it FREE for all passengers! The whole process should take 18-24 months so in roughly 2 years you should be able to browse online during your low cost Ryanair flight. The company is now researching the ideal technology because standard satellite connection isn’t very reliable and it’s also very expensive.
Addition of free WiFi shouldn’t lead to higher prices of tickets according to Mr. Jacobs.
Third major news is planned change of colours inside Ryanair airplanes. According to Ryanair’s CMO it’s one of the priorities currently. The classic yellow colour should change to more blueish design. It should also include pictures of the destination and customers and crew. This whole new look should be introduced next year, the definite design is being finalized right now.
Let’s hope these changes will make flying with (previously very hated) Ryanair much more enjoyable experience – we have already noticed much better service from the controversial low cost carrier!
