Scary footage of airplanes failing to land in Birmingham due to strong wind
Yesterday’s massive storm Xaver hitting hard basically whole North Europe caused some really scary moments on numerous airports all around the continent.
Great Britain was one of the hardest hit countries with strong winds reaching over 220 km/h in North of Scotland on Thursday 5th December 2013.
This strong wind lead to many flight cancellations however many airlines decided to fly anyway despite the risky situation.
Massive waves in Blackpool, England
One of the seriously affected airports was in Birmingham, when many airplanes had to cancel landing in very last seconds after the wind managed to completely turn the planes sideway.
Here’s scary footage of Emirates’ plane flying from Dubai (flight EK 039) with hundreds of passengers aboard. After the pilot failed to land in Birmingham 3 times, the plane had to fly to London Gatwick for safe landing.
People on Twitter flying onboard this flight commented the situation was very serious with people throwing up, strong shaking, panic in the airplane and shocked passengers.
The storm already killed 4 people in UK and more than 10 000 houses had to evacuated in fear of strong waves and flooding.
