Wizz Air also cancels free cabin baggage, charges €7 one-way now :(
The situation with free cabing baggage onboard various low cost airlines changes so often it is really confusing already.
Wizz Air announced today that the company also cancels free 10 kg cabin bag, following Ryanair’s very same decision just two weeks ago.
Starting from 1st November 2018, you will be entitled only to small cabin bag up to 40 x 30 x 20 cm and weight up to 10 kg.
This is a size of small backpack, notebook or handbag, definitely not a regular backpack.
Only passengers who purchased Wizz Priority boarding (starting from €5 one-way) will be entitled to standard “big” cabin bag as well, with sizes up to 55 x 40 x 23 cm.
Another new option will be to pay for this big cabin bag, which will cost €7 one-way.
This means Wizz Air basically copied Ryanair’s new cabin bag policy.
Effectively it will require you now to pay at least €10 extra for return flight if you want to travel with standard cabin bag up to 55 cm.
If you booked a Wizz Air flight before today (10th October 2018) with departure after 1st November 2018, you will still get free “big” 10 kg cabin bag.
We are sad to see such news which make it virtually impossible to travel without paying extra either for priority boarding or for big cabin bag.
Luckily the prices of low cost flights have been steadily decreasing over last few years so you simply have to count with this extra cost while purchasing the tickets.
